How to Use the Credit Card Payoff Calculator

  1. Enter your credit card balance.
  2. Add the card's APR (annual percentage rate).
  3. Enter your monthly payment.
  4. Click Calculate to see months to pay off, total interest, and the payment needed to clear it in 1, 2, or 3 years.

Formula Used

Months = log(PMT / (PMT − Balance × r)) / log(1 + r)   where r = APR / 12 / 100

Example: A $5,000 balance at 24% APR with $200 monthly payments takes about 36 months to clear, costing roughly $2,000 in interest. Paying it off in 2 years would require about $264/month.
